An interesting suggestion for 3jam
Posted by andy, April 14th, 2006
I got a great email the other day from a user named Dan who suggested that we make available a record of various 3jam known issues and update it as they are fixed…similar to what you find on open source software projects. Here’s the email:
Andy,
Suggestion: Even though the 3jam isn’t a downloaded program, it would be helpful to have a changelog page so users (e.g. me) could visit periodically during development and see that 3jam is up to version .4 with x changes and y bugfixes. Perhaps I’m spoiled with open source software, where you know exactly what’s going on in development — but anything would be helpful.
Best,
Dan
One difference, of course, is that we’re running a service. But our basic viewpoint is that text messaging should be much better than it is today. And we need your help to make it so. There are dozens of things that you should be able to do with text messages but can’t. A tool like Dan’s suggesting, where 3jammers could even comment on known issues and suggest fixes, would be great.
If you have any ideas of tools we might be able to use to accomplish this, please leave a comment or send me an email. Thanks!

How do I end a chat session?
April 17th, 2006
To end a chat session you started reply with:
.end
Chat sessions that have had no activity for more than 24 hours are automatically ended.

If you simply want to leave a chat session that someone else has started (so you don’t get any more messages), reply with:
.bye
